When I was a kid, I adored Dumbo. My room was filled with Dumbos?and other stuffed pachyderms. Today, elephants are still my favorite animals, and I haven't stopped?thinking about Dumbo's incarcerated mom cradling her baby?in her trunk. I think of the scene every time I do?a yoga pose that involves bending at the hips, holding my opposite elbows and swaying. (This is a popular move, I've found.) Dumbo is sacred to me.?Maybe I fell in love with?the character, because his reason for being teased (his ears) became his greatest asset (tool for flight).? Perhaps I felt for the outcast who?wasn??t accepted by his elephant peers.
